yup yup
outstanding sound quality on this one, and happily a show more than worthy of such a great capture. they come out guns blazin with asphalt funk and reed is bringing the bombs. stormcloud has become one of the best song the band plays these days and this iteration is no exception. g2 is also notably hot with josh shredding like only he does. some well-placed guest spots, although i don't know why they didn't have tim play on the new arrangement of earth and sky. a warm welcome back to all of your cigarettes, too, last was 2/8/08. fine encore to cap things off, listen for asphalt funk teases from trevor toward the end of it. well above and beyond what i would have expected for a single set split bill show off the beaten path.

Tea Leaf Green rocks to tiny crowd in the Poconos
We were right in front of the soundboard for the opener - Al & the Transamericans (including, obviously, Al, with Vinnie from moe, Gordon Stone (banjo/pedal steel), the bass player from strangefolk eric glockler and some other guy named kirk juhas on keyboards. The sound near the board was good. We moved way up front for TLG, and the sound there was not so good. In that respect, I think the recording sounds better than what I heard live, especially the vocals.
Anyway... TLG really kicked @ss this night, especially considering the surprisingly lackluster Friday night turnout for this talented act. (Maybe the word is not out about them in the east yet.) What little crowd they had was a spirited one however -- good energy. I woulda liked to have seen more glowing, flying nonsense though.
One long set with an encore. Don't miss The Garden trilogy and Incandescent Devil with Al.
Overall well worth the $20 Sherman Theater general admission ticket. You gotta love that they have Magic Hat #9 on tap. Readmission was nice too, affording my crew the opportunity to go shmoke between acts.
Go check these guys out and give this show a listen!
And thanks to Mr. Dubs for upping! It never ceases to amaze me how tapers go to all this effort and quickly share consistently high quality recordings of awesome shows for nothing in return. That rocks.
